Mmmm-Green Tea!

According to fitday.com, my protein to carb to fat ratio for today's total food intake was 25 36 39. not bad. am improving. :) i bought tilapia from fresh market for dinner, which i ate along with some broccoli and a little dark chocolate. the tilapia was OK -- am going to try salmon again. i had some bad salmon a while back, which turned me off to the fish. but is superior to tilapia, albeit more expensive. am going to continue to conscientiously scale back on cheese and other processed dairy, minimize sweets of all forms (except a little dark chocolate), and avoid grains when dining out. my current staples are

breakfast:
english breakfast or green tea w a little organic creamer and honey
banana, almonds, honey, & Greek yogurt (is a high protein, strained yogurt with no sugar, gelatin, pectin or other additives. i am so picky re protein. this is a winner for me.)

lunch or dinner:
eggs, avocado, salsa, and fruit
chicken, beef, or fish with vegetable or salad

before bed:
a little dark chocolate for after dinner dessert
decaf green tea w a little creamer and honey

lifted 63 lbs tonight. was challenging but i did it in 25 min., which pleases me. i need to work on my pullups, which kinda suck. i need to improve my form and strength and move up to the blue band some day soon.

this past week i did pretty damn well.

sun: relaxing after post grading party
mon: WOD
tues: WOD + CFE
wed: WOD
thurs: WOD + .25 CFE (that thursday WOD kicked arse!)
fri: off-Christmas!
sat: WOD

that makes 5 WODs during Christmas week--SNAP!!!

Jane you are doing great...baby steps on the food I say. I went cold Paleo and got really frustrated with it. It is a work in progress always. BTW - I laughed at your .25 CFE workout...the 1.0 version was BAD!

LOLZ @ Kary. Rowing long distance is more of a mental challenge than a physical one. That day I learned that doing a CFE before a particularly intense WOD is optimal. 5 minutes of rowing = 1000+ meters. After the first one I thought I would go crazy if I did three more. I was done. :)

Ms. Sarah: 1. thank you!!! your compliment the other day meant SO MUCH to me. I carry it with me. 2. re creamer & yogurt: I know, I know. :) I think I can eliminate creamer. I'm debating the yogurt. Right now it's a go for me. Kate lent me "The Paleo Diet," in which I read that yogurt, as a dairy product, is bad because of the saturated fats. The European kind does not have any. Of course, sat. fat is not the only reason to avoid dairy. I stumbled upon an excellent website published by Mark Sisson, a world-class ironman endurance athlete and author who wrote the book, "The Primal Blueprint: Reprogram your genes for effortless weight loss, vibrant health, and boundless energy." (Paleo = primal) I'm going to buy this book; "The Paleo Diet" didn't answer all of my questions, which is OK, since reviewing multiple sources is key. To access Mark's Blog, "The Daily Apple: Primal Living in the Modern World" go to http://www.marksdailyapple.com/.

This is what he says about European yogurt in his list "Top 10 Best and Worst Sources of Protein:" The European stuff is richer, fattier, more nutritious and lower in sugar. Again, when choosing an animal protein source, choose one that also provides valuable fats to maximize nutrition. Don’t go for the conventional animal products that are high in chemicals, hormones, bad fats, and sugars. Yogurt isn’t a staple of my diet, but if I eat it it’s certainly not a plastic cup of sugar-infused strawberry dessert.

shiz! one more idea:

Kate and I discussed the paleo view on eggs. I was alarmed upon reading that, according to Cordain, one should consume no more than 6 eggs PER WEEK because eggs are high in fat. I eat 3 eggs just about every day! Kate said not to follow that rule, that eating more than 6 eggs per week is fine.
