healthy food may not be so healthy

Last night I prepared my lunch for today. Impressed? You should be. I never do this, although I should and will strive to from now on. I packed a very healthy salad of organic spinach, walnuts, avocado, cranberries, tuna, ginger, and a little dark chocolate. Yum! Very sustaining.

I just read this article written by a Negative Nancy about how she doesn't like people promoting breast cancer awareness on Facebook, because she feels that other cancers commonly suffered by women don't get enough attention. Probably true. But don't disparage breast cancer survivors and activists for doing a good job of promoting awareness AND taking action. Get on the wagon, Nancy! Act on it rather than complain. Anyhow, she lamented that so many people who are fit and eat healthy develop cancer. This got me thinking about how eating healthy, or more correctly, eating healthfully, is SO relative. Perhaps to Nancy eating healthy entails consuming 11 servings of grains per day, along with lean, grain-fed beef pumped with hormones and antibiotics, soy, lots of dairy, and contaminated vegetables and fruits. This, as we know, is not so healthy. Food for thought.
